Golf

Rockford has a passion for golf, a fact the is obvious when you tee up at any of our public golf courses.  It’s no wonder that for three years (1998, 1999, 2000) Golf Digest rated Rockford “number one” for mid-sized US cities for the excellence of its public golf courses, based on course quality, holes per capita and affordable green fees.

Rockford Park District Golf Courses
All of Rockford’s four Park District 18-hole golf courses have been awarded at least three of five stars in the 2004 Places to Play ratings, and the fifth course, the championship-class Aldeen Golf Club & Practice Centre, was voted one of the top new public courses shortly after opening (1991) with a four-star rating.

Aldeen Golf Club & Practice Center
Aldeen Golf Club is Rockford’s premier public golf facility and was given 4 1/2-stars by 2004 Golf Digest Magazine’s Places to Play guidebook, the highest rating available for a public course.

Westlake Village Golf Course
Westlake Village Golf Course opened in July 1999. Westlake Village is maturing into one of Winnebago County’s top public courses.

The Golf Club @ Timber Pointe
Timber Pointe is a semi-private club, which means that memberships are offered as well as limited public play. The club facilities include an 18 hole golf course, a practice facility, a full service clubhouse, and eventually a 9 hole putting course.

Winnebago County Forest Preserves Golf Courses
The Forest Preserve District manages three 18-hole golf courses, Atwood Homestead, Ledges, and Macktown - which are open to the public from April until the end of October. Golfers in Winnebago County enjoy excellent conditions at all three courses.

Alpine Hills Golf & Practice Center
Alpine Hills is a 9-hole, par 3 golf course centrally located in Rockford.
