The Rockford Police Department Office of Professional Standards (OPS) is under the command of Deputy Chief Robert Reffett, [email protected], and consists of Internal Affairs, and Administrative Review Process. The Office of Professional Standards evaluates the Department’s policies, procedures, and training.  OPS also performs investigations of internal matters through objective and comprehensive investigations into the department or employee misconduct. The OPS safeguards the integrity and professionalism of the Department.

Community Mediation Program

Mediation is a voluntary process where a trained mediator, who is not an employee of the City of Rockford, acts as an impartial third party to facilitate a mutually agreed upon and non‐adversarial meeting between a citizen and an employee of the Rockford Police Department. This process is a tool to resolve disputes with respectful, tolerant negotiation and constructive communication.
