Reckless Discharge of Firearm

  • Location: 1600 Johnson Ave

On 5/22/18 at 8:49 pm, Rockford Police Officers responded to the 1600 block of Johnson Ave for a report of a man with a gun threatening to shoot people. The suspect fired off one round in the area.  Officers met with the two victims and later located the suspect in the 1700 block of York Ave.  No injuries or property damage was located or reported.

The Suspect was identified as 50-year-old Rockford resident, Terry Bain.

The incident was reviewed with the States Attorney Office, who authorized the following charges:

  • Reckless Discharge of Firearm
  • Aggravated Assault with Deadly Weapon x 2
  • No FOID
  • Unlawful Use of Weapon by Felon

Armed Robbery to Business

At 6:55am officers responded to Ms. Jill’s Video Poker and Slots in reference to an armed robbery. Upon arrival officers learned that a black male had entered the business around 6:50am armed with a handgun.  The suspect demanded money from the clerk.  The suspect then fled from the business.  No customers were in the business at the time of the robbery.

Suspect was described as follows:

Black Male
5’6 160 lbs
Tan coat and black ski mask

This is an on-going investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Rockford Police Department.

Reckless Discharge of Firearm

On 5/22/18 at 0014 hours Officers responded to the 1000 block of 7th St for a report of gunshots fired.  Upon arrival they located a suspect in the area who informed officers he fired a gun into the air.

The Suspect was identified as 21- year-old Wisconsin resident, Tya Ru.

The incident was reviewed with the States Attorney Office, who authorized the following charges:

  • Reckless Discharge of Firearm
  • Unlawful Use of Weapon
  • Driving Under the Influence
