15th Avenue over Rock River Bridge Replacement

The 15th Avenue Bridge over the Rock River substructure dates back to 1933 and is nearing its useful life. It is estimated that in five to ten years, the bridge will need to be closed to traffic. In order to proactively begin the process of replacing the structure, the City has applied for federal funding assistance through the Illinois Special Bridge Program. The current traffic volumes indicate that a three lane bridge section may be an adequate replacement.
