The LGBTQIA+ Liaison has been appointed to establish a closer more effective dialogue between the citizens of Rockford, the Police Department, and the LGBTQIA+ community of Rockford.
The Liaison is committed to fostering and building positive relationships between the LGBTQIA+ community and the Police and will assist community members who may be the victims of crimes or have information or issues of concern to the Police Department.

“With multiple family members in this community, this appointment furthers my commitment as an ally,” says Michelle. “A section of the Rockford Police Department Mission Statement states that we are committed to making the City of Rockford a safe community in which to live, work and flourish. My main focus is to assist with that mission and help foster an inclusive environment both internally and externally so that all members of the LGBTQIA+ community feel safe in reporting issues that may be impacting them.”
