The Violence Prevention Coordinating Council (VPCC) has been developed to assist the Rockford Community to better serve those who have been or may be impacted by firearm violence. The VPCC members works collaboratively to develop meaningful plans for connecting families to a variety of social supports addressing community-wide disparities such as public benefits, housing and utility support, food assistance, employment assistance, funeral and burial services, youth programming, domestic violence support and services, health services, additional mental health and substance use related resources. Considerations may include the expansion of co-located, multidisciplinary, multi-agency service delivery models as possible prototypes of how services can be arranged in more accessible and community centered ways.
The City of Rockford Mayor's Office of Domestic and Community Violence Prevention (MODCVP) established a Violence Prevention Coordination Council which serves as a lead body that will work across the Rockford community to coordinate violence prevention resources and to continue the work of the Rockford Local Advisory Council (LAC).
