Code Hearings

The focus of all employees involved in the City of Rockford's Administrative Code Hearings is to drive compliance with all City of Rockford Ordinances.  Those ordinances include the City of Rockford Code of Ordinances, building and property codes, and zoning codes. Code Hearings take place on Wednesdays from 1:00 P.M. - 4:00 P.M. at City Hall.  Hearings are usually on the second floor of City Hall right inside Council Chambers.

Schedule

Code of Ordinance Violations -       1:00 P.M.

Building Code Violations -                2:00 P.M.

Property Standards Violations -     3:00 P.M.

How do I know which type of hearing I have?

You can tell what kind of hearing you are appearing for by looking at the Citation or Case Number.  If the Citation Number begins with "C", "T", "P", or "ORD" followed by a four digit string of numbers, that is an Ordinance Violation case. If you have been issued a tan parking ticket with a 4-6 digit number stamped in the lower-right corner, those are also considered Ordinance Violations. A case number starting with "PST" is a Building Code case.  A case starting with "CENC" or "CEC" is a Property Standards case.  If none of these seem correct, you may not have a case with the City of Rockford's Code Hearing division. Check your document to ensure that you have not been cited by the County, the Health Department, ABM, or any other local municipality.

How can I find my case number?

Case numbers can be located on any document sent to you from the City pertaining to your case.  If you do not have any of these documents, you may call 779-348-7154 to ask for your case information.  Please be prepared to share the full name of the respondent, the name of the owner of the vehicle for a tow case, or property address for a Building Code or Property Standards case with the person on the phone so we can find your information quickly.
