An annual license expires on January 31st.
This license applies to all individuals or entities who want to engage in the business of outdoor advertising as defined by Code section 3-20, to include placing, erecting, hand distributing, handing, or posting any sign, advertisement, notice, or displaying within the City of Rockford. There are very specific requirements that must be adhered to before a license can be approved. See Code sections 117.1 through 117.89 for full details.
To obtain a license, complete the Outdoor Advertising License Application and return it with a Certificate of Insurance, supporting documentation, and the appropriate license fee to the Payment Center at City Hall. The license will be issued upon approval of the application.
Compliance with all laws, ordinances, and regulations of the City of Rockford, including all building, zoning, and fire regulations as well as all State of Illinois statutes applicable to such a licensed business or device is mandatory.
